The Glenbeigh Great Southern & Western Railway Branch Line Plaque Unveiling

Glenbeigh Community Council is delighted to have completed such a fantastic project.
This project was suggested to us by John Houlihan a couple of years, at the time we were not in a financial position to carry out this project. However this year with the help of the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government and Kerry County Council we could see our way to completing this project. I would like to thank all the people who support us financially because without that financial help this project would not be possible.
This will be a great tourist attraction for Glenbeigh.
We would like to thank everyone who was involved in this project Dominick & Raymond Lynch for the fantastic design, Alan Ryan Hall for the plaque itself, Brian Hickey for his help with the location of the project, Ger Burke and all the CE participants for the great work done not just with this project but throughout all of Glenbeigh, John Houlihan for all his fantastic help and advice, to Ger Connor for doing a fantastic job as MC on the evening, Brian Sugrue for reciting the poem Ghost Train to Croke Park by Sigerson Clifford, Tony McSweeney for unveiling the plaque and Michael Quirke for allowing us to use his water supply, and of course all in the Community Council who put lots of hard work into this project.
A very big thank you to Peadar & Mary O’Sullivan of Ashes Bar
for sponsoring the Wine, food and music on the evening
to celebrate this very special occasion.
This was very much appreciated by Glenbeigh Community Council.
